How Matthew Began in the Cleaning Business

“I started in the cleaning industry at 14, working in warehouses and schools during the summer. Over the years, I worked for various cleaning companies, but one in particular, ‘A Clean Attitude,’ left a lasting impression. The owner, Ms. Rist, was incredibly hardworking, hands-on, and successful at growing her client base. She encouraged me to start my own company so we could subcontract together. In 2019, A Clean Design was born! Though Ms. Rist is no longer with us, I carry her spirit into every job by following her routines and maintaining her standards of excellence.”

“One of my biggest challenges has been building and maintaining a strong team. While I provide hands-on training and easy-to-follow manuals, finding employees who can handle the physical demands of cleaning while embodying respect and teamwork has been tough. Despite this, I’ve been fortunate to have one loyal employee who shares my dedication to quality. I’ve learned that a great team doesn’t just clean well—it works well together to ensure the job gets done right.”
