All About Our Charity of Choice: Cleaning For A Reason Debbie Sardone, founder of Cleaning for a Reason and owner of Texas-based Buckets & Bows Maid Service, had the idea to start the nonprofit while speaking with a prospective residential cleaning client. The woman told Debbie she wouldn’t be able to afford home cleaning as she was undergoing cancer treatment. In that instant,  Debbie decided that no one undergoing cancer treatment would ever be turned away by her business. In fact, they would be offered a free home cleaning service! Debbie shared her idea with other residential cleaning companies at ISSA Show North America, the top annual event for cleaning industry professionals. She explained that those who undergo the physical, emotional, and financial rigors of cancer treatment need professional housecleaning services the most. The audience agreed, and many pledged their support.  Debbie registered Cleaning for a Reason as a nonprofit organization and at the next ISSA Show, residential cleaning companies signed up to donate their services on the spot.  Cleaning for a Reason is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers free home cleaning to cancer patients in the United States and Canada. Our goal is to remove the burden of cleaning and allow those recovering from surgery, in active treatment, or in hospice to focus on their health and spending valuable time with loved ones.
