Benefits

One of the best things about the Speed Cleaning Mop is how easy it is to use. Here’s a quick breakdown of how it works:

Step 1: Make Your Mop Water Solution

We typically fill the bottom couple of inches of a clean kitchen sink with warm water and a little bit of floor cleaning solution like Sh-Clean. If you prefer to use a bucket, you can do the same. For quick clean ups, we sometimes just grab our spray bottle of ready to use floor cleaner and spray the floor.

Step 2: Drop In Your CLEAN Mop Covers

Part of what makes the Sh-Mop system unique is that we never create dirty mop water. Soak your mop covers in the clean mopping solution until ready to use. Grab a wet cover, wring it out until no longer dripping, and place on your Sh-Mop base.

Step 3: Replace the Cover as Needed

When the mop cover becomes either too dirty or to dry to clean the floors, and would instead start pushing the dirt around, it's time to replace it. We NEVER place the dirty cover back into our clean mopping solution, though! Just put your dirty covers in the laundry or bag to launder later and grab a fresh, new cover to put on the mop. No more sticking a dirty mop into clean water and just spreading the mess around!

Step 4: Finishing Up

When you are finished mopping, it's time to drain the sink or dump your bucket. But remember, you started with a clean sink and you only kept clean mop covers in your sink so there is no need to re-clean! Just drain the sink and wipe it dry. This step keeps your floors cleaner and saves you time!

When to choose microfiber covers:

Dry dusting: We like to use microfiber for dry dusting as well as damp mopping. The microfiber technology attracts dust and dirt, making it ideal for dry dusting.

Damp mopping: Wring out the cover and apply to the mop. Damp mopping is perfect for hardwood flooring because excess water can cause damage to hardwood.

When to choose cotton terry cloth covers:

Highly Absorbent: Cotton terry cloth is highly absorbent, making it perfect for wet mopping. Since it retains more mopping solution, it can stay wet longer.

Heavy-Duty Cleaning: Cotton can be washed and dried on high heat, and can be bleached to sanitize covers.

The method · Dust first, vacuum later Most people clean in the wrong order. Gravity is the reason. I want to ask you something almost nobody stops to think about. When you vacuum first and dust second, where does the dust from your shelves and furniture actually go? It falls. Straight down. Onto the floor you just vacuumed. You have done the work twice and the second time you do not even realize it. I have seen this in home after home. Professional cleaners included. People who do this for a living, every day, cleaning in the wrong order — not because they are careless, but because nobody ever taught them the physics of what they were doing. They learned by watching. And whoever they watched was doing it wrong too. "Dust first. Vacuum later. Gravity does the work and your job is to be there when it lands." A confession from someone with a degree in astrophysics I studied astrophysics before I took over Speed Cleaning. Sounds like a strange career pivot. But gravity does not care if you are tracking galaxies or dust particles. It works exactly the same way at every scale. The moment I looked at cleaning through that lens, the whole system clicked. The cosmos and your living room follow the same rules — and once you see that, you cannot unsee it. The physics of clean Why top-to-bottom is not just common sense. It is physics. Every particle you dislodge from a surface falls. Not sideways. Not up. Down. That is gravity and it is the most reliable, most predictable force in your cleaning routine. The story behind the system Speed Cleaning was founded by Jeff Campbell, a man who did exactly what I described above. They can trap dust, polish glass, and scrub surfaces without leaving scratches. If you treat them right, they can survive up to 500 washes. That is years of cleaning from a single cloth. But here is the thing: microfiber is picky. The tiny fibers that make it so great are also easy to ruin if you are not careful. Follow these rules and you will be golden. Before your first use Always wash a new microfiber cloth before you use it the first time. Do not be alarmed if some color bleeds out. That is completely normal for the first few washes and it will not affect how well the cloth works. ✓ Do this ✓ Rinse off dirt and debris before tossing it in the wash ✓ Wash separately from other laundry ✓ Use regular laundry detergent with no extras ✓ Wash with cold water ✓ Tumble dry on low heat (low heat creates static, which helps attract dust!) ✗ Do not do this ✗ Use bleach. It destroys the fibers ✗ Use fabric softener. It clogs the fibers and kills absorption ✗ Use dryer sheets ✗ Wash with hot water. It melts and fuses the fibers together ✗ Iron the cloth ✗ Use it to clean up grease, wax, paint, solvents, or bleach spills Why cold water? Hot water can literally melt the tiny synthetic fibers that make microfiber work. Once fused, the cloth loses its ability to trap dirt and clean effectively. Cold water protects those fibers every single wash. Day to day use How often you wash your microfiber cloth depends on what you are cleaning. Light After wiping counters or quick surface cleans, rinse with dish soap and water, then hang to air dry. No machine wash needed yet. Heavy After a full day of cleaning, dusting, or multiple uses, it is time for a proper machine wash. A stiff or stinky cloth is a sign it is overdue. Rinse tip Always rinse out dish soap completely before hanging. Soap residue left in the cloth can cause streaking on your next clean. Watch for these signs If your cloth feels stiff, will not absorb water, or starts leaving streaks, it needs a wash. A dirty cloth does not just clean less. It can actually scratch surfaces. Part 2 Cotton Cloth Care Guide Cotton cleaning cloths are the old school workhorses of the cleaning world, and for good reason. Made from 100% natural cotton fibers, they are incredibly durable, can handle serious messes, and unlike microfiber, they are totally fine with bleach and hot water. If you need a cloth that goes through heavy duty disinfecting, high temp washes, or tough jobs, cotton is your go to. What makes cotton different? The biggest advantage cotton has over microfiber is its tolerance for heat and harsh cleaners. You will not ruin a cotton cloth by tossing it in a hot wash or soaking it in a bleach solution. In fact, that is often exactly what you should do when you need to truly disinfect. Cotton cloths are also thicker and more absorbent for large spills, great for heavy scrubbing, and much easier to sanitize in high risk environments like kitchens, bathrooms, or wherever germs matter. ✓ Do this ✓ Wash in hot water when you need to disinfect. Cotton can handle it ✓ Use bleach for tough stains or sanitizing. Cotton will not break down ✓ Tumble dry on high heat. No problem for cotton ✓ Use with strong cleaning agents, degreasers, or disinfectants ✓ Wash frequently. The more you wash cotton, the softer it gets ✗ Watch out for ✗ Over bleaching too often. It can weaken fibers over many washes ✗ Washing colored cotton cloths with whites, especially when new ✗ Leaving wet cotton cloths bundled up. The pad makes all the difference!

I like the size of this mop base, as it really does make mopping go faster, but in my opinion the pad is the real game changer. It allows for a little give in areas where you need more pressure to get into a crack or a groove in your flooring.

If I could give this mop system 4.5 stars, I would. I love the base, and I love the covers. My only problem is that as I'm working, the pole occasionally loosens/unscrews a little from the base, or the length adjuster comes loose and suddenly, I'm working with a shorter pole. I'm not pressing very hard or moving too quickly, they just sometimes loosen unexpectedly. It doesn't happen super frequently, and it's possible I'm just not tightening them quite enough, but I'm afraid of making it too tight to break it all down when I'm done. I still really like the whole system and I love the large surface area and padded base especially, I just wish it locked in place slightly better.

These bases are close to the original

These bases are close to the original, but not quite there. The base itself is thinner, and so is the foam pad. Also, the attachment piece where you twist it on to a mopping pole is all plastic and breaks pretty easily, so definitely not as durable. The original is great and I wish it was not so darn hard to find! These still get the job done though, just don't seem to last quite as long.

I had one of these years ago and lost it during a move. Why it took me so long to find it again is beyond me. Worth every penny!! I bought extra head covers so I can always have a clean one. Not so sure about the cleaner, but am using it.

I bought my Shmop twenty five years ago and it's still going strong. This is the best mop for any kind of floor - hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and you just throw the terry coverc in the washing machine and use them over and over again. I highly recommend.

I searched and searched some more to find the best mop out there. I do not know how I stumbled upon the Clean Team, but it was back when there was only catalog shopping, no website. I have owned a sh mop for many years! I have cleaned quickly due to its large size. I can even deep clean using the side . And when the towel/sh mop is soiled, as I take it off I can still use it to clean a smaller spot. Launder and ready for next time! Love the 100% cotton Terry they originally carried. Wish they new sh-mop replacements would be 100% cotton. But after over about 25 years, the elastic is starting to wear out! Very well made! So now I must replace ordering another pack! Thank you so much!!!

I like the concept and use the mop I bought with the terry cloth wipes. Problem is the mop handle doesn't stay at the length originally set for use but scoots down making the handle shorter. Takes time to once again bring it up to the right length after it slips but then shortly it slips again. Makes moping the floor require much more time/frustration than it should. Good idea but need to correct this flaw.

I've had my Sh-Mop for years and it still works great. It's so easy to just throw the Sh-wipes in the wash and always have a clean one ready to go.

this works great on my wood floors. the cloths scrub the floor easily and its very well made

This mop outshines any other! The head is huge which saves so much time cleaning floors. We know time is money and this is the only mop I'll ever use again! Padded handle is great as is the adjustable bar length.

Makes mopping so much faster! Handle wouldn't stay in the mop head when it arrived, kept falling off, but customer service was excellent and immediately sent me a new hand which works perfectly. Really like the microfiber sh-wipes. My mom had the cotton ones when I was growing up, but these are easier to use, lighter but just as effective.
