Less is more, especially when it comes to the possessions we accumulate in life. Even though we live in a consumer culture that pushes us to buy buy buy, it’s actually much healthier for us to live a minimalist lifestyle.

    Clean, Tidy Home

For one thing, it’s a lot easier to clean your home! The less clutter and fewer things scattered about your house, the easier it is to efficiently sweep through your rooms and tidy up. If you need help tackling clutter, check out our Clutter Control ebook

With fewer items in your home, it’s actually more visually appealing, creating a sleek, clean look. And with less clutter, you’ll be able to find the things you’re looking for more easily! No more searching for that jacket you could swear you put in the closet but that is now lost and buried under dozens of other jackets.

    Less Stress

You’ll also have less stress as you won’t worry as much about keeping track of your possessions or making sure you have the latest and greatest gadgets. Keeping up with the current fads and fashions can drive you absolutely bonkers. And you’ll have more freedom when you find that you are spending less on unnecessary things.

There’s a great Dave Ramsey quote: “We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.” Minimalism helps you shift away from that mindset.

    Better for the Planet

It’s also better for the environment. The less we consume, the fewer packages (usually involving a lot of plastic) get tossed into landfills at the end of the day, doing less damage to the environment.

Another way to be minimal is to buy things in bulk, like our 32 oz. bottle of Speed Cleaning™ Red Juice Concentrate. It makes twenty 16 oz. bottles of Red Juice, which means you’ve saved many plastic bottles from being used.

    A Minimalists Shopping Guide

If you need help altering your lifestyle to be more minimal, you might find these questions handy whenever you’re out shopping. Ask yourself:

    • Do I really need it?
    • Do I already have something like it?
    • Will I use it often?
    • Where will I store it?
    • Does it match things I already own?
    • Do I love it?
    • Will I still love it later?

So what do you think? Will you try to switch over to a more minimalist lifestyle to make it easier on yourself? Your wallet, the environment, and your stress levels will thank you. Let us know if you have any minimalist tips to share in the comments.
